Christmas for Kids
Helping make Christmas a little brighter for local children.
For more than 20 years, Christmas for Kids has helped local families during the holiday season. Started by the Smith family, this long-standing community tradition continues through the generosity of local businesses, donors, and volunteers, in partnership with the Pine River-Backus Family Center.
Registration is Now Open!
Families who could use a little extra help this Christmas are encouraged to apply.
To qualify, children must:

Be ages birth through 18.

Live in the Pine River-Backus School District OR attend Pine River-Backus Schools.

Live full-time in the household.
Registration deadline: Monday, November 16, 2026.

Paper applications are available at the Pine River-Backus Family Center, 245 Barclay Avenue in Pine River.
Completed applications can be dropped off at the Family Center during business hours or mailed to:

Please Note: Only one request per child will be considered. Submitting an application does not guarantee assistance. Families will be notified by phone or email regarding their application. Gift pickup details will be provided at a later date.

A Community Tradition
Christmas for Kids is made possible by the kindness and generosity of our community.
In 2025, donations and volunteers helped provide Christmas gifts for 194 children from 79 local families.
We are grateful to everyone who helps keep this tradition going, year after year.
